Candidates
Lake Snell Perry Mermin & Associates is committed to making the most sophisticated scientific research methods and analytical techniques available to progressive candidates.
In addition to our numerous mainstream candidates, we are known for our efforts to promote the candidacies of many people who have traditionally been left out of the mainstream political process from African-American and Hispanic candidates to women to gays and lesbians.
Our client list is one of the most impressive in the business. Celinda Lake has conducted research for every Democratic presidential candidate since 1984. In 1984, Lake was Chief Analyst on the polling team at Hart Research for the Mondale/Ferraro presidential campaign. In 1988 (in partnership with Stanley Greenberg) Lake also advised Democratic presidential nominee Michael Dukakis in such key states as California and on women's vote strategy. Finally, as a partner in Greenberg-Lake Research, Lake headed and conducted all focus groups for the Clinton/Gore campaign in 1992.
Lake Snell Perry Mermin & Associates continues to advise candidates for the highest political offices, including several sitting U.S. Senators and Governors as well as many members of Congress.
We have also developed a reputaion for using pinpoint targeting to create upset victories in tough, crowded, multi-candidate races. For example, in 1992, Carol Moseley-Braun, despite being outspent many times over, came from third place to beat an incumbent senator and become the only African-American woman ever elected to the U.S. Senate. Other examples include Barbara Boxer's primary win in California in 1992, Geoffrey Fieger for Governor in Michigan in 1998, and Gary Locke for Governor in Washington state in 1996.
